Johnny Cash Loses Battle With Diabetes

A sad week got sadder today as it was revealed that Johnny Cash passed away this morning at the age of 71. A mere four months after losing his wife, June Carter Cash, Johnny succumbed to diabetes at Baptist Hospital in Nashville. His manger, Lou Robin released a brief statement that read, “Johnny died due to complications from diabetes, which resulted in respiratory failure.” The “Man In Black”, who was a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and the Country Music Hall of Fame, had just last month won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Cinematography in a Video for his rendition of the alterntive classic “Hurt” by Nine Inch Nails. He will surely be missed, as the gravity of his influence on and contribution to rock & roll is assessed.
