Steve Burns Books First NYC Gig, UK Tour With Lips To Follow

By now, you should know that Steve Burns was once “Steve,” the striped-shirt wearing, bubbly host of America’s most watched Kids show, Blues Clues. You should also know that he parted ways with the show to pursue his first love, music, and he recruited a few of his friends in The Flaming Lips to help him out. Songs For Dustmites, the resulting debut album was released on PIAS America last month and is turning a whole new crowd onto Steve Burns.

Steve played a number of dates with the Starlight Mints around the album’s release in the Southwest and West Coast, he has yet to perform live on his home turf, NYC (though he did appear on the Today Show and was interviewed by Anne Curry). That is all about to change, because Steve Burns has booked his first hometown gig at the Mercury Lounge on Monday, October 20. He’ll take the stage at 8:00pm.

Just three days later, Steve will head over to the UK for a 12-date UK tour with The Flaming Lips. He will be opening for the furry-costumed rockers, and you never know what they’ll have up their sleeves. I’m sure whatever happens, it will be a memorable experience.
