Townshend Reveals Plans For New Who Music/Tour

Legendary Who guitarist Pete Townshend has posted a statement on his official website that is sure to provide Who fans with hours of conversation. According to Billboard, that statement reveals that “before the end of the year” he and Roger Daltrey will begin demoing new material and plan to hit the studio in March to record their first proper album in 21 years. Based on Townshend’s now completed story, The Boy Who Heard Music, the as-yet-untitled album will be released in summer 2004 on a yet-to-be-determined record label. US and UK tours in support of the release are also in the works.

In other Who news, a revamped double-disc edition of Tommy will be released on October 28 through Universal. Townshend is also putting together a team to remix the Who’s Quadrophenia in 5.1 surround sound. We’ll keep you posted as things develop.
