Live – Chromeo Get The Ladies Moving @ The Knitting Factory

Chromeo’s She’s in Control (Vice Recordings – Jan 2004) is the most enjoyable debuts I’ve heard this year, so I was curious as to how Dave and P-Thugg would pull off their synth-friendly sound in the flesh. Dave announced at the beginning of the set, “All of our songs are about girls.” Well, they definitely got all the girls in the Knitting Factory moving. The two rocked like Kilimanjaro, especially P-Thugg’s talkbox/keyboard/groovebox handling. Unfortunately, the set was much too short. Iíd bet money next time they come to NYC, more people will be familiar with their sound, theyíll headline, and more dance party chaos will ensue. This time around the crowd was anxious for their Fannypack. Belinda, holla at your boy. For more on Chromeo, check out Anne Brazealís upcoming feature in the FADER magazine.
