Apple Expected To Announce Partnership With Pepsi

Apple Computer Inc. will today release a Windows compatible version of their hugely popular Apple iTunes Music Store, a service that has previously been available to Mac users. That is news enough, but The LA Times is reporting on another layer of this announcement. In addition to the release of iTunes for the PC, the computer company is expected to unveil a new deal with PepsiCo that would give Pepsi buyers free song downloads at the iTunes Music Store. Times sources say Pepsi will craft a multimillion-dollar ad campaign around the music store.

Though reps for Apple and Pepsi were unavailable for comment, the Times reports that sources say consumers who purchase Pepsi products would find codes in the packaging that they could redeem for free downloads from iTunes. Pepsi would pay for each song downloaded, with the two companies having discussed offering about 100 million free songs.

We’ll keep you posted as an official announcement is made.
