Fucking hell. Weíve lost another one. And this one is going to hit harder for a lot of people as he was part of our generation. Singer-songwriter Elliott Smith has been found dead, the victim of an apparent suicide. Smith, who issued brilliant albums such as Roman Candle and Either/Or for indie kingpins Kill Rock Stars, as well as XO and Figure 8 for DreamWorks, had been said to have been battling heroin addiction for years but it was thought that he was finally getting the upper hand. He was rushed to the County USC Medical Center Tuesday afternoon with one, suspectedly self-inflicted knife wound, but was later pronounced dead. I for one am deeply saddened at this news and feel the music world has lost one of its truly talented. Smith was 34.
