Live – Medeski, Martin & Wood Far From Scary On Halloween

After playing Halloween at the Hammerstein Ballroom in 2002, Medeski, Martin and Wood returned this year to the Beacon Theatre for what was sure to be a memorable show. MMWís Halloween shows are always special and this one was to be no exception. From the moment they stepped on-stage to the last note they played, they were on fire. The crowd knew it and the band knew it, which translated into some pretty memorable, exploratory jazz improv. After throwing down some pretty funky, spaced out jams, they brought out guest guitarist Marc Ribot, who would prove to add a truly amazing groove to the already intoxicating vibe they had created. After Ribot joined them on-stage, they continued on, playing some old favorites as well as a multitude of new tracks, which will hopefully show up on their upcoming studio album (due out spring 2004). All in all, they played a truly amazing show, proving once again that they are some of the most talented musicians in the game.
