As the Oracle says in The Matrix Revolutions, “everything that has a beginning has an end.” But, oh what a beginning this was. The third film in the Wachowski brothers Matrix trilogy grossed over $204 million in its opening weekend, staking its claim as the highest money-making worldwide opening ever. It beat the mark set by The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers of $188 million set last Christmas season. Revolutions didnít better the US mark set by its Matrix predecessor, Reloaded, but it did well enough to break the worldwide figure. Will Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King better the Revolutions mark when it hits theatres this Christmas? I guess youíll need to wait a month and half to find out.
