Mick Jagger Knighted, No Seriously… He Was

Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger today received the UK’s highest honor when he was knighted by Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace. “It was all rather wonderfully formal,” the rock legend said after the ceremony. Jagger seemed pretty pumped about the whole thing, but bandmate Keith Richards had a somewhat different view. “I went fucking berserk when I heard. I thought it was ludicrous to take one of those gongs from the establishment when they did their very best to throw us in jail and kill us at one time,” Richards told Uncut magazine. “Itís not what the Stones is about, is it? I donít want to step onstage with someone wearing a fucking coronet and sporting the old ermine.”

Jagger, on the other hand, doesn’t think he’s sold out to the establishment at all and scoffed at Richards’ remarks saying, “I don’t really think the establishment as we knew it exists any more.” He continued on to do a little attacking of his own. He said of Richards, “It is a bit like a bawling child who hasn’t got an ice cream.” Besides, Jagger didn’t sport the traditional top hat and tails when accepting the honor. He wore a black leather coat, purple scarf and gym shoes. Now that’s rock & roll.
