The Doors Hard At Work On A New Album?

Yes, it’s true. Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and former Cult frontman Ian Astbury, now known as The Doors Of The 21st Century hope to release an album of all new material by mid-year. Having exhausted all of Jim Morrison’s diaries, poetry books, and napkin scribblings, the band has turned to other poets and songwriters of the day to help them pen lyrics for the new release. According to Rolling Stone, Jim Carroll, Michael McClure, X’s John Doe and Warren Zevon have all already contributed songs. Zevon wrote his contribution, “There’s A River Of Madness Running Through Los Angeles,” shortly before his death last year. Other songs that will likely make the cut are “Cops Talk,” “Street Of Crocodiles,” and “The Eagle In The Whirlpool.”

Drummer John Densmore, who has a pending lawsuit against his former bandmates, will likely not be a part of this new record. We’ll let you know when a release date is announced.
