Apple Facing Lawsuit, Backlash Over iPod Battery Life

And who said the squeaky wheel doesnít get the grease? After throwing together a short film in protest to Appleís iPod battery issues, the computer giant is taking steps to make their consumers battery woes go away. Filmmaker Casey Neistat called Apple to complain about the battery life in his iPod, which was holding less juice than before, and then finally stopped working altogether just after the warranty period ended. When told the only solution was to buy another iPod or spend over $250 for repairs, Neistat made a short film showing him tagging iPod posters with the line ìiPod’s unreplaceable battery lasts only 18 months.î Since the hubbub over that film, Apple is trying to find ways to make affordable replacement batteries available to their customers, according to MTV News, including offering extended warranty plans for $59 and new batteries for $99 But this latest move may not be enough, as a class-action suit has been filed in California court over what is described as ìunfair and deceptive business practices and false advertising in its claims about the iPod.î One senses this is hardly the end of the storyÖ
