Jack White Stands By His Claim Of Self Defense

White Stripes lead singer Jack White has been ordered to stand trial on March 9 after pleading innocent to misdemeanor charges of aggravated assault. White was accused of punching Von Blondies lead singer Jason Stollsteimer in the face several times at a concert the two were attending on December 13 at Detroitís Majestic Theater Center. Shortly before midnight the fight ensued where, as Stollsteimer told police, White punched him in the face seven times. According to Detroit police, Stollsteimer was sporting a bruised and swollen right eye and a bloody nose. White’s post-fight statement claimed that he “jacked” Stollsteimer in self-defense. If found guilty, White faces anywhere from no jail time to a maximum of one year behind bars and a $1000 fine.

Ironically, the same day that Jack White will be standing trial, the Von Blondies will be releasing there Sire/Reprise debut, Pawn Shoppe Heart. Talking Heads member Jerry Harrison produced the album and a 12-date U.K. tour will follow the release. I am sure that Pawn Shoppe Heart will be number one on Jack White’s shopping list.

Just in case you haven’t seen the damage White’s fists of fury caused, take a look a the image below:
