Nominations for the 76th Annual Academy
Awards were announced this morning at
5:30am Pacific Time (ouch). Lord Of The
Rings and Master And Commander
each received 11 and 10 nominations
respectively, though neither film garnered any
acting nods. Best picture nominees include
Lord Of The Rings, Lost In Translation,
Master And Commander, Mystic River and
Seabiscuit. Other nominees include
Johnny Depp, Ben Kingsley
, Jude Law, Bill Murray
, and Sean Penn for best actor
and Keisha Castle-Hughes,
Diane Keaton, Samantha
Morton, Charlize Theron and
Naomi Watts for Best
Actress.
Some surprises include Nicole Kidman
and Tom Cruise’s omission
from the Best Actress and Best Actor
categories for Cold Mountain and
The Last Samurai. Cold
Mountain was also a hopeful for Best
Picture, but was sadly nudged out. Look
