Broken Wrist Forces Ryan Adams Tour Cancelation

The broken wrist which forced prolific singer/songwriter Ryan Adams to cancel 12 European dates through the middle of February is also to blame for the recent cancelation of a 13-date US tour that was to kick off March 2 in Columbia, MO. Adams suffered the injury in a plummet from a six-foot-high stage at the Royal Court Theater in Liverpool on January 22nd. A statement posted on his official web site says that he will undergo surgery this week, but the length of time required for recovery and physical therapy will make it impossible to complete the scheduled dates.

Adams spoke to NME about the details saying, “They said itíll take at least six weeks or two months. Thatís for the bones to take. They might have to wire it together with metal wires. The guess now is that I could lose up to 20 per cent of the mobility in my wrist. Thatís the percentage I wonít be able to bend it any more. My fingers and hand will be fine but Iíll have to re-train my wrist. Weíll see about guitar but it might make me a great piano player! I have a feeling Iíll be able to pull through. Itís all about making sure I can get my wrist about a guitar.”
