Diesel-U-Music has started February off by announcing their nominess for the second round of the Diesel-U-Music program. The program, which is designed to showcase the best up and coming talent, whether already inked or waiting for that to occur, is in its second year of existence and the tastemakers who select the bands are culled from all areas of the industry: artists, journalists, peeps in promo and marketing, managers, booking agents and more. There are three categories, rock, hip-hop and electronic and three nomination periods a year. This second round has quite a few stellar acts being added to the hat for the awards ceremony that will take place this spring in NYC. From the three rounds of nominees, one band will be selected from each category to play live at the award ceremony and then hit the road together for a nationwide tour. Amongst the acts receiving round two nods are Las Vegas ë80s inflected rockers The Killers, Albu-quirky indie kids The Shins, DJ Shadow posse member Lyrics Born, Nashville female-fronted synthers Venus Hum and LA buzz crew Moving Units. The full second round of nominees is listed below and for more info on the process, awards, or panel of judges, check the Diesel-U-Music site.
