Tributes Aplenty Plague This Year’s Grammys

A Grammy tribute to the 40th anniversary of the Beatles’ first US TV appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show has been announced for this year’s celebration. It will feature the eclectic mix of Sting, Dave Matthews, Vince Gill and the Neptunes/N*E*R*D’s Pharrell Williams. That’s not all though folks. Another tribute is in the works for the late Warren Zevon, who is nominated for five posthumous Grammys. According to Billboard, this tribute will feature Jackson Browne, Emmylou Harris, Dwight Yoakam, Jorge Calderon and the Eagles’ Timothy B. Schmit. But waitÖ there’s more. A tribute to Luther Vandross featuring Celine Dion, Alicia Keys and Richard Marx is on tap as well. These three tributes follow the previously announced funk tribute which features Robert Randolf & the Family Band, Earth, Wind & Fire, OutKast, and of course, Parliament Funkadelic.

Somehow the Grammy awards will have time to feature some live performances that aren’t associated with any sort of tribute whatsoever. They include Prince, Beyonce, the Black Eyed Peas w/ Justin Timberlake, 50 Cent, Foo Fighters with Chick Corea, The White Stripes, Martina McBride, and Christina Aguilera. The Grammys will take place on February 8 in LA.
