Dave Grohl Builds Upon His Drumming Resume

Foo Fighter numero uno Dave Grohl will appear on at least one track on the next Garbage record. Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson posted this statement on the band’s website, “Dave Grohl (or Mr Fantastic as our producer has taken to calling him) came by the studio today (January 6) and HAMMERED some drums down on ‘Bad Boyfriend’ and the result is fucking AWE-INSPIRING!!!!! OOoohhh….I am FINALLY having so much fun making this record. It feels like how you imagine making records would be. Exciting and creative and joyous. And we’ve just made so much progress in a week that I can actually imagine we might finish this damned thing after all!!!!”

The collaboration, as NME reports, also meant a reunion for Grohl and Garbage drummer Butch Vig. “Just had Dave Grohl in to play drums on ‘Bad Boyfriend,’” said Vig, who produced Nirvana’s legendary album Nevermind, “and it’s absolutely slamming.”

Dave Grohl’s death metal side project Probot released its self-titled debut album this week via indie metal label Southern Lord. The band finds Grohl behind the drums (as well as most of the other instruments) and features a number of cult metal icons of the 80s contributing vocals to the project, including Cronos of Venum, Snake of Voivod, Eric Wagner of Trouble and more well known names like Lemmy and King Diamond.
