To my dismay, when I last reported on Bonnaroo the only information I had to offer up was simply the tour dates for this fine festival. I am pleased to say that I have more information for you blazing Bonnaroo fans. Superfly Productions and A.C. Entertainment have announced the initial lineup for the 2004 Bonnaroo Music Festival, and folks, it is pretty killer. This year’s fest will sport such acts as The Dead, Bob Dylan, Dave Matthews & Friends and Trey Anastasio. In case you all forgot to write down the dates last time we told you, the third annual three day camping music festival will take place on June 11-13 in Manchester, TN.
Bonnaroo is not just for hippies anymore, folks. This year’s line up gets ever more edgy, while still staying true to the concepts that founded Bonnaroo. ìBonnaroo fans appreciate great music of all kinds,î says A.C. Entertainmentís Ashley Capps. ìWe want to reinforce that sentiment with adventurous booking that builds on a solid foundation of grassroots rock.î Bonnaroo regulars like The Dead and Trey Anastasio will once again be gracing the stage, but along with them will come a younger crop of acts such as the Southern rock revivalists Kings Of Leon, singer/songwriter Damien Rice and Nigerian afro-beat star Femi Kuti. If this doesn’t wet your whistle enough, I’ll be nice and give you the whole lineup as it now stands. Tickets for, as Rolling Stone once called it, “The American rock festival to end all festivals” will go on sale on February 21 at 10:00 AM Eastern time though Bonnaroo’s official web site.
