OutKast To Star In Speakerboxx, The Movie?

Andre 3000 and Big Boi are gearing up to take on their first film role. According to Rolling Stone, the two members of OutKast will begin shooting the film Speakerboxx in May with director Bryan Barber for HBO. Barber, who also wrote the script, says the film falls somewhere between The Color Purple and Amelie. Andre 3000 and Big Boi are in the process of writing music for the soundtrack, which will also serve as the follow-up to their Album Of The Year-winning Speakerboxxx/The Love Below.

Barber was behind the camera for both of OutKast’s most recent videos, “Hey Ya” and “Way You Move.” “It’s a 1930s period piece and musical,” says Barber of the forthcoming film. “A lot of the music inspired the scenes and the scenes inspired other music.” We will keep you posted as more details surrounding the film are released.
