The 10th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were held last night in Los Angeles, and while a number of the Golden Globe Winners or Oscar favorites again took the spoils, there was at least one big surprise. The Screen Actors Guild Awards, unlike the two aforementioned awards, are chosen by the actorís peers and are submitted by secret ballot. Amongst the winners this year were Lord Of The Rings: the Return Of The King for Best Ensemble Cast (the SAG Awards version of Best Picture), Charlize Theron for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her performance in Monster, the cast of Six Feet Under for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, Sex And The Cityís cast for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, and in the biggest shock of the night, Johnny Depp taking home the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role award for his part in Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl, surpassing the expected winner, Sean Penn in Mystic River.
