Starbucks Unveils In-Store Music Download Service

International coffee powerhouse Starbucks has announced a partnership with Hewlett-Packard that will result in a new in-store downloading service. Rolling Stone reports that the service will allow customers to download music, burn discs, and print album art, all from a computer station provided by HP. Major record labels have already signed on and in the coming months, 2,500 stores will be outfitted with these new download stations. The first store will open in Santa Monica, CA, tomorrow (March 16) and to celebrate, Rufus Wainwright and Sarah Harmer will perform outside on Third Street Promenade.

The cost for the download service will be $6.99 for the minimum 5-song download and $12.95 for full albums.
