The air is rife with UK record news lately. First off, The Charlatans have announced the details about their eighth studio album. Entitled Up A The Lake, the 12-track record is due out in the UK on May 17, and is the bandís first since Wonderland in 2001. It will be preceded by the albumís namesake as a single two weeks prior. US details are currently not available, other than the fact that the track ìIíll Sing A Hymnî will not be included on any US release.
Also in the mix are plans for a Verve greatest hits album. The seminal vibed-up shoegazing spacerockers who have broken up twice and have no current hopes of reforming will drop the compilation in the UK this fall, according to the NME. No details are available regarding tracklisting, but the album is believed to be ready for public comsumption come October.
