The WB Working On Kurt Cobain Biopic

The WB Network has obtained the rights to the 2001 Charles Cross book, Heavier Than Heaven: A Biography Of Kurt Cobain, with plans to develop it into an original movie. “The day Kurt Cobain died was the day the music died for a generation,” said WB senior VP original movies Tana Nugent. “His story is perfect for our audience.” Who knew that the WB brass were so cool? I mean, they had The Shins on the Gilmore Girls and Remy Zero sings the theme song to Smallville, but wow, A Kurt Cobain movie? Maybe the WB IS cool.

Screenwriter Robert Munic (They Call Me Sir), who has been brought on to work on the script, says “”It’s not your traditional biopic. The storytelling will have a nonlinear style, flashing to different parts of his life out of chronological order.” A director and cast have yet to be named, but the film could make it to TV as early as next season. We’ll keep you posted.
