American, Irish and Indian musicians are joining forces for an early summer concert to raise funds for the prevention of AIDS/HIV in India. The show, dubbed One Night in India, will be held June 8 at the Pauley Pavilion on the campus of UCLA and will feature performances from Perry Farrell, Damien Rice, Michelle Branch, Macy Gray, Nitin Sawhney, Talvin Singh, and Karsh Kale. Proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Global Fund and the American India Foundation. According to Billboard, tickets will go on sale this Friday through Ticketmaster and the event’s official site and range from $25 to $500 VIP packages.
The Global fund has spent more than $132 million in India to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria in 2003 alone. According to the organization, India is second only to South Africa for people living with AIDS.
