Mick Jones Can’t Say Enough Good Things About New Libertines Work

Well, the next Libertines album is either going to be a complete stormer, or ex-Clash and Big Audio Dynamite man has been dipping into the Libertinesí stash. In an interview with Teletext, Jones, who is recording the London quartetís sophomore album had many a gushing word to say. “Pete (Doherty) and Carl (Barat) have the same fluidity we had. Joe (Strummer) would sit at a typewriter, have a great lyric by the time I’d had a coffee and I’d knock up a tune for it in a few minutes. That’s how quickly The Libs do it – low boredom threshold,” Jones stated. He discussed how much better The Libertines were now than even on their debut, Up The Bracket, and then went on compare the band with his seminal punk outfit, continuing on to mention that ìa record as good as this only comes along once in a generation. You had it with The Clash. And now it’s The Libertines turn.î That is some serious praise. Will it stand up? Time will tell.
