Manson Sues Former Band Mate Over Spooky Kids Release

When someone pisses off the Antichrist Superstar, you’d think that maybe he’d get even by ripping their heart out and eating it, or perhaps plucking out an eyeball with his fingernail then swallowing their soul though the open eye cavity. But that’s not at all what happens. Instead, Marilyn Manson handles his quarrels like any other normal human being – he sues. On April 28, Manson and bandmate Madonna Wayne Gacy filed a lawsuit against ex-bandmate Scott Putesky (a.k.a. Daisy Berkowitz) and Florida-based label Empirewerks Records. According to Eonline, the suit claims that Putesky and Empirewerks unlawfully used illustrations from Manson’s The Long Hard Road Into Hell on their release, Boxes & Choklit Cows – a collection of songs from Manson’s former band, The Spooky Kids, recorded in 1993.

Manson and Gacy claim the sale of Boxes & Choklit Cows infringes upon the assless pants-wearing rocker’s trademark and copyright and also violates a settlement agreement Putesky signed when leaving the band in ‘96. The two rockers are asking the judge to block the sale of the album and are also seeking $500,000 in restitution payments and other punitive damages. I think sucking out Putesky’s soul through his eye hole would have made for a better story, but hey, a lengthy court battle is almost as torturous.
