STARS Name New Album, Head Overseas With Broken Social Scene

Montreal-based indie pop magicians STARS are currently in the studio working on the follow-up to their beautiful 2003 release, Heart. The forthcoming album has been dubbed Set Yourself On Fire and is the first STARS record to be recorded in an actual studio rather than group member Chris Seligman’s bedroom. According to a post on their web diary, the band has been spending 15 hours a day working on the record and eating a ton of mushrooms. Sounds fun. Further details have yet to be revealed, but we know the band will be taking a break from the studio to head overseas with label mates Broken Social Scene at the end of the month. From May 27 through June 3, the two like-minded bands will be sharing group members in cities across Germany and Austria.

Broken Social Scene are spending the beginning of May in and out of the studio and putting the finishing touches on a video for “Lover’s Spit.” We’ll hopefully be including a link to that video in the daily newsletter soon.
