Pete Doherty Reaffirms Desire To Leave The Libertines

Following up yesterdayís story, troubled Libertines man Pete Doherty has acknowledged he is, indeed, leaving the band, but didnít write off all chances of returning to the fold. In an interview with UK tabloid rag The Sun, Doherty cryptically described bits of his rehab experience thusly. ìI was barely aware of what was going on. All these visitors were coming in to see me and saying they were my family and my sisters – but really they werenít. I want to clean up but itís something I have to do on my own terms.” Doesnít exactly sound like someone who has everything together. He continued on to say, If (band mate Carl Barat) comes and grabs me by the hand, maybe we can reclaim the empire together. But for now Iím out of the band. Surely no one wants to see me trapped in this cage that is only making me miserable.î All of this with a Mick Jones-produced album almost ready for release, one Jones likened to some of the best work his band, The Clash, issued. Expect more news where this came from.
