Live – CommuniquÈ Showcase Stellar New Album At Release Party

Local boys CommuniquÈ hosted a record release party for their brand new offering on Lookout! Records last night at popscene in San Francisco. Topping off the festivities, where fans could buy the album, Poison Arrows, 10 days before it was in stores, as well as shake their asses with the CommuniquÈ boys on the dance floor, was a 30 minute teaser live set by the quintet. Seen as a warm-up for their headlining slot on the local band stage at Live 105ís BFD and as a way to reward their fans, friends, and family with some new live material in an intimate setting, the eight-song concert proved that their new songs are just as good, if not better, than anything theyíve done to date.

Taking the stage to the cheers of the hometown (almost) faithful, Oaklandís CommuniquÈ immediately ripped into the catchy-ass first single off Poison Arrows, ìPerfect Weaponî (as heard on Player .051). The bandís synth-heavy indie rock is highly infectious, as was evidenced by the dancing crowd, not to mention the luminaries present, including members of labelmates Black Cat Music and the front row-center dancing labelhead Chris Appelgren. As they fired through album tracks like ìBlack Curses,î ìThe Best Lies,î and ìMy Bay,î it became obvious that CommuniquÈ had written a boat load of gems for Poison Arrows and as more time was spent with the record, tracks would seem like life-long favorites. Although the excellent ìCross Your Heart,î elicited the loudest screams, the feeling was that once the album dropped and fans had the opportunity to spend some time with Poison Arrows, all songs would get the same ear-piercing screams when showcased live. Something special is going on with these Bay Area boys. Be the first on your block to find out what that is.
