Johnny Ramone Facing Tough Cancer Battle

For a band that was so important in the history of modern Alternative music, The Ramones sure have crappy luck. Having already lost Joey Ramone to cancer and Dee Dee Ramone to a drug overdose in the past few years, news has now filtered out that guitarist Johnny Ramone is also battling cancer. Johnny, a.k.a. John Cummings, came down with prostate cancer four years ago, but it is now spreading. In an interview with Rolling Stone, sole other surviving Ramones member, Marky Ramone said, “He went through many chemotherapy treatments. Some of it worked better than others. At this point [the cancer] has started to go into other areas of the body.” Marky also added, “Johnny’s been a champ in confronting this, but at this point I think the chances are slim.” Our thoughts go out to the members of Cummingsí family for a change for the better.
