Interpol Set Release Date For Sophomore Album… Finally

New York-based quartet Interpol have finally set a release date for their highly-anticipated sophomore effort, Antics. Fans will have a chance to get their hands on the record on September 28, once again through the good folks at Matador Records. “Sonically, it’s a really big growth for the band,” guitarist Daniel Kessler told Billboard. “We really challenged ourselves. Every single song has a giant identity and a personality. By the time you’ve gotten to track four, you may not remember what track one sounded like. Every track is a voyage. You really have to listen to the record a few times to really get a hold of the whole entity.”

The band will preview some of their new material when they hit the road with the Cure’s Curiousa Festival, which kicks off July 24 in West Palm Beach, FL, though they’re not sure which new songs will get the live makeover just yet. They’ll follow up Curiousa with a North American headlining tour in October, though nothing has been set in stone as of yet.

Always looking for new and different ways to simultaneously get fans involved and promote their artists, Matador is holding a contest surrounding the release of Antics. The label will sponsor 10 short films inspired by Interpol’s music. Treatments must be turned into the label by July 5, after which 10 finalists will be given a grand and a 60-second piece of music with which to work their magic. For all the details, click here.

“Evil”

“NARC”

“Take You on a Cruise”
