Bowie Undergoes Emergency Heart Surgery

Rock legend David Bowie was forced to undergo emergency angioplasty in Germany to relieve a blocked heart artery, according to a spokesperson. Bowie sought treatment following a performance in Scheesel, Germany, on June 25. The 57-year-old rocker shortened a performance two nights prior believing that a pinched nerve was the cause of severe shoulder pain. According to the Associated Press, the Bowie spokesperson did not give a specific date that the surgery took place, but said that the rocker left Hamburg, Germany early this week and is now with his family in New York. “[I] can’t wait to be fully recovered and get back to work again,” said Bowie of the ordeal. “I tell you what, though, I won’t be writing a song about this one.”
