After some lengthy negotiations, the estate of Elliott Smith has just completed a deal with ANTI- Records for the release of from a basement on the hill, the departed singer/songwriter’s final studio album. Recorded prior to his death in the Fall of 2003, the album took its final shape in same studio that facilitated his prior two releases, 1998’s XO and 2000’s Figure 8.
