QOTSA Recruit ZZ Top’s Billy F. Gibbons To Wail On New Album

Queens Of The Stone Age were joined in the studio last week by ZZ Top guitar legend Billy F. Gibbons, who contributed some lead guitar work for the band’s next album. “They’re definitely some dedication fashioners of tone and taste and, clearly, no strangers to those bluesy wee hours,” Gibbons told Billboard. “That’s when it’s the most rockin’ and those guys seem to be always ready to rock.” Queens main man Josh Homme is currently working on the band’s first studio release since the departure of founding member/bassist/vocalist Nick Oliveri. Drummer Joey Castillo, multi-instrumentalist Troy Van Leeuwen and Desert Sessions collaborator Alain Johannes have been recruited to record the new album with Homme. It is too early to tell whether whether Gibbons recent contributions will make the final cut.
