Who Gets The 2004 Moonmen? MTV Video Awards Nominees Named

It’s Moonman time! That’s right, the nominees for this year’s MTV Music Video Awards have been announced, and always, there’s a lot of pop, a lot of R&B, a lot of hip-hop, and some decent alternative bands to boot. The event will be held in Miami on August 29 at American Airlines Arena, and it will be the first time the ceremony has been held outside of LA or NYC. Among the more Tripwire-friendly acts up for prizes this year are Franz Ferdinand, The Darkness, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Jet, Good Charlotte,Outkast, Modest Mouse, White Stripes, and Steriogram. The most interesting competitions look to be the Best Rock Video and Best New Artist in a Video awards, both of which match Darkness and Jet, amongst others, and the MTV2 Award and Breakthrough Video, which see Modest Mouse and Franz Ferdinand up for both, with Yeah Yeah Yeahs joining in on the MTV2 competition and White Stripes jumping in on Breakthrough Video. Jet and Yellowcard are even set to perform. Peer below for all the nominees across the various fields.
