Two New Bright Eyes Albums Planned For Simultaneous Release

Indie-rock icon and voice of depressed college kids everywhere, Conor Oberst is currently wrapping up work on the second of two brand new albums planned for release next year. According to MTV News, the Bright Eyes frontman is holed up in Lincoln, Nebraska’s Presto Studios (home to just about every Saddle Creek recording artist) working with knob-twister Mike Mogis on a “more digital and poppy” Bright Eyes record. Oberst already has one, more classic, folky Bright Eyes record in the can that features country star Emmylou Harris singing back-up vocals on three tracks.

As previously reported, Bright Eyes will join Bruce Springsteen, R.E.M. and John Fogerty as part of the Vote For Change tour, which kicks off October 1 in cities all around Pennsylvania. The tour will then hit other swing states all across the country in an effort to prevent the re-election of President Bush. Other artists taking part include Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, and Death Cab For Cutie, amongst others.
