Saul Williams To Drop Fader Label Debut Next Month

Singer, author, actor, musician and world-famous poet Saul Williams is gearing up for the release of his sophomore album, simply titled Saul Williams. The follow-up to his Rick Rubin-produced 2001 debut album Amethyst Rockstar, Saul Williams is the artist’s first for the newly formed Fader Label. “The tracks range from politics to relationships and the politics of relationships,” says Williams of the new album. ”What I ended up with was something that captured the authoritative cool of hip-hop, the playful angst of rock & roll, the raw emotional torment of emo (and, my favorite, ’screamo’), and the fuck offness of punk.”

The Fader Label will be servicing the first single from Saul Williams, “List Of Demands (Reparations)”, early next month, though most of you will be able to check out the track and video a week or so earlier on the next Player, .054.

Saul has just a few tour dates scheduled at the moment. The first is this coming Sunday at the Central Park Summerstage in NYC where he’ll open for Nas. He then has three university-related gigs scattered throughout the rest of the year, including the National Association of Campus Activities Conference. Saul was one of a small group of artists selected from among thousands to perform at the NACA Conference, which is used to showcase up and coming bands for possible booking at universities across the nation in 2005.

08.15.04 – New York, NY (Central Park Summerstage, w/ Nas)
09.01.04 – Toronto, ON (York University)
09.14.04 – Pomona, CA (Cal Polytech)
11.15.04 – Reno, NV (Nat’l Assn. of Campus Activities Conference)
