Los Angeles-based spacey psychedelic art-rock trio Midnight Movies will release their self-titled debut album on August 31 via Emperor Norton Records. Long time favorites of Nic Harcourt at KCRW, Midnight Movies have been buzzing for most of this year. The girl lead singer/drummer who sounds like Nico and overall excellent musicianship of the band opened my eyes when they ran through a quick, half hour set at The Fader/Levi’s Happy Hour at SXSW this year. The album, which I was lucky enough to have received a few weeks ago, far exceeded my expectations and I’d say this record is set up to take off in a big way this fall.
The band will tour in support of the release with some San Francisco and Los Angeles gigs in August and September, but beginning mid-October, they will play two dates with Metric and an entire tour with Clinic. For the complete schedule, see below.
