Charlie Watts Diagnosed With Throat Cancer

Charlie Watts, the drummer with The Rolling Stones, is being treated for throat cancer and is receiving a six-week course of radiotherapy in a hospital near one of his homes in South East London. He was diagnosed with the disease in June after discovering a lump in his throat. Watts, 63, who ironically earned the nickname of the “clean-living Stone” after giving up smoking and alcohol decades ago, is expected to make a full recovery.

“Having been diagnosed with throat cancer following a minor operation in June, Charlie is reaching the end of radiotherapy treatment,” according his official statement. Watts is set to spend his post-treatment recovery time on his Devon estate with his wife and daughter. The Tripwire wishes him well.
