Dublin, Ireland’s Damien Dempsey Set To Knock Out US Tour

After collaborating with the likes of Sinéad O’Connor and Brian Eno, singer/songwriter Damien Dempsey begins a string of opening dates for Morrissey beginning tonight at Constitution Hall in Washington, DC. Dempsey hits the States in support of his latest album, released on Morrissey’s own Attack label. Swinging away with lyrics born of street-toughened experience, the former boxer credits the musical influence of his own family’s post-bar folksongs, Elvis and Bob Marley.

“To hear [Dempsey] sing is to realize the magnitude of his astounding voice and heart,” says Morrissey on his official web site. “The songs are true, and his is the best and often the saddest voice of this generation.”

Dempsey’s latest full-length, Seize the Day, features guest appearances by Eno and O’Connor. Its US release is scheduled for October 5 via Attack/Sanctuary Records.
