The Roots to Appear at Oakland’s We the Planet Festival

In support of Mother Earth, hip-hop innovators The Roots have signed on to throw down for environmental awareness at this year’s We the Planet Music and Activism Festival. Orchestrated by tree-climbin’ environmentalist, Julia Butterfly Hill and her organization, Circle of Life, the indoor festival is set for November 13th at Oakland’s Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center.

The Roots join a growing list of artists scheduled to perform, including Michelle Shocked, Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart, Third Eye Blind and politically-charged Bay-Area rappers The Coup.

In its second year, the festival features musical acts, educational and activism opportunities and vegetarian cuisine. Tickets go on sale for the event on October 10th at www.inhousetickets.com and are printed on hemp/flax paper using soy ink!

In the meantime, Roots superfans can preview their festival appearance by checking out their iN DEMAND PAY-PER-VIEW special on October 8th, filmed at New York City’s Webster Hall.  Their latest release, The Tipping Point, is available now on Geffen Records.
