Nicky Manic Double Dose

A second Manics story? It must be slow. Manic Street Preachers’ once stick thin bassist Nicky Wire has attacked The White Stripes as he criticized the state of the music industry today. He says: “There are loads of s*** bands out there. White Stripes – I just don’t get that at all. When they say ‘We recorded the whole album in 2 days’ its like, yeah it sounds like it. It sounds f***ing crap because you recorded it in a second.” Aussie flavo’ the month Jet are also slammed by the rocker: “Jet are so bad. Their music has the mental age of a foetus.”

The bassist didn’t limit his disdain for just musicians, he also hit out at the royal family. Referring back to the Manics early years, he said, “We said a lot of idiotic things when we started out like ‘we want to play in the ruins of Buckingham Palace’. It’s a part of my make up and these are views that will never change – the Monarchy is just a hideous, awful symbol of our culture.”
