Hot damn, another story on The Darkness here on The Tripwire! It seems that on Halloween night frontman Justin Hawkins was involved in a drunken brawl with what XFM calls a “mystery attacker.” Was it a stranger? Russell Crowe? Somebody who doesn’t believe in a thing called love? The unknown Darkness-hater allegedly punched Hawkens in the face, which then caused him to stumble through a stained glass window. According to the Sunday Mirror newspaper, the glass severed the tendons in his hand, which required immediate surgery. Hawkens was rushed to London’s Princess Grace Hospital where doctors fixed his broken digits.
The Darkness are still ramping up for their sold-out winter tour. Rumors swirled around the normal British music tabloids claming the band will have to use a stand-in guitarist. A posting on the band’s official site states: “Justin has cut his hand but will be fine to wield his axe before kicking off their winter tour later this month. So no stand-in guitarists, no cancelled shows and ticket refunds and no worries!” Until the tour kicks off, Hawkins will attend twice-weekly physical therapy sessions to help him recover.
