MACRoCK Music Fesitval’s Uncertain Future

The Mid-Atlantic College Radio Conference, lovingly known as MACRoCK, is in jeopardy and needs your help. It turns out that all is not well between James Madison University, WXJM managers, and event organizers. A meeting took place with the dean of the college of arts, specifically surrounding poor accounting practices that took place two years ago. Although the university has not axed the festival as of yet, the survival of MACRoCK is hinged on a business proposal and presentation to be given by the event staff.

Jess Woodward, WXJM programming manager and MACRoCK label expo coordinator, is asking for your help. In an email to events supporters, he said: “The managers at WXJM and MACRoCk are attempting to start a letter writing campaign to show support of MACRoCk. Of course, we can’t just write the letters ourselves, so we’re asking for your help. Hopefully, you have enjoyed your experiences at MACRoCk in the past and can vouch that you benefited from them. And as a favor to those of us at MACRoCK, hopefully you can take a few minutes to voice that opinion in a letter to Acting Dean Marilou Johnson to let her know what a valuable experience MACRoCk is.”

If you do decide to write a letter in support of the festival, send one copy to WXJM and another to the dean of the college of arts and letters.
