System’s New Album Promises To Both Hypnotize And Mesmerize

Multi-platinum selling, politically active and socially conscious rock outfit System Of A Down have revealed the details surrounding the release of their new album. Hypnotize/Mesmerize is a two CD set, with each disc being released six months apart from the other. The first disc, Hypnotize, will be in stores late first quarter of 2005, while disc two, Mesmerize, will see a late summer/early fall 2005 release. Both records will be completely finished before the first CD is released and both will make their way to market via American Recordings/Columbia.

“There has been a great deal of upheaval, very troubling times for all of us over the past year or so,” said vocalist Serj Tankian, “and that has brought forth a lot of emotional material. There’s a good amount of social commentary in the new songs, as well as songs where we deal with love, with reminiscing, relationships, politics, and funny experiences.”

The decision to release the discs six months apart rather than simultaneously was made to give fans time to fully absorb disc one before diving head first into disc two, according to a spokesperson for the band.
