Everyone knows some of the best music in the world comes from the UK, so it should be no surprise that they should have a UK Music Hall Of Fame. Last night at the Hackney Empire in London marked the first annual award ceremony for the new Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame was organized to pay tribute to the legendary artists from popular music history, even if that means they are not from the UK. Performances from The Polyphonic Spree, Queen, The Thrills, Beverly Knight, and Robbie Williams highlighted the awards.
James Reimer, trombone player from the Polyphonic Spree told The Tripwire: “We played ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ to an audience that included Sir George Martin which was cool because he had so much to do with that song originally. Then we performed Free’s ‘All Right Now’ with the surviving members of Queen and Free front man Paul Rodgers, who was singing Queen songs earlier in the night.”
According to BBC 4, Robbie Williams performance was of his new single “Misunderstood”, and was given after he beat out Blur, Oasis, Nirvana, and The Spice Girls to represent the 90s.
