New Music From Iron & Wine, Tour Dates Announced

2005 is quickly shaping up to bring in some of the best names in new releases. Among them will include a new six-song EP from Iron & Wine, titled Woman King, landing on February 22 via Sub Pop Records.

This time around Sam Beam finds himself expanding his talents from basic acoustic to include banjo, electric guitar, piano, and violin. Woman King was recorded with producer Brian Deck in August in Chicago, and arrives right after this year’s release of Our Endless Numbered Days, which debuted at number 6 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart, and sold 65,000 copies in the U.S.

According to Billboard, Beam is primed for further mainstream exposure next month, as three of his songs are set for inclusion on the soundtrack to the film In Good Company. Due January 11 via Hollywood, the set features the previously unreleased cut “The Trapeze Swinger” as well as the Numbered Days tracks “Sunset Soon Forgotten” and “Naked as We Came.”

Maybe you can hear some of the new tunes on his mini west coast tour starting next week. Here are the dates:
