Fifth Annual DIY Convention Details

The fifth annual DIY Convention: Do It Yourself in Film, Music & Books, which will be held Feb. 7-12, 2005 in Los Angeles at various venues, has announced some headlining bands in the lo-fi icons Mountain Goats and Canadian “alternative” rockers Hidden Cameras. The 2005 DIY Convention will feature five nights of national independent music acts booked by Spaceland Productions; two nights of DIY Film Festival screenings; the DIY Music Festival finals; two days of panels, workshops and exhibits at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood; and parties, parties, parties. The festival grand finale offers winners a selection of prizes worth over $10,000. Entrants are also eligible for year-round showcases in Los Angeles and other cities. Bands and individuals interested in performing at the 2005 DIY Music Festival have until Jan. 25, 2005 to register online at www.diyconvention.com or by calling the DIY offices at 323-665-8080. Entrants to the music festival are eligible for opening act slots; day stage performances at the convention hotel; and entry to overall DIY Convention events.
