Kings Of Leon Drummer Nearly Hospitalized

We all know the expression “the show must go on”, and Kings Of Leon did just that. Drummer Nathan Followill had been suffering from a serious kidney infection, which nearly caused him to be hospitalized. Yet did they cancel the show? Hell no. Thanks partly to an adrenaline rush and a desire to perform, Followill lasted the entire 90-minute set. The show last night was the kick off for their biggest UK tour ever, with a sold-out performance at Manchester’s Apollo Theatre. Followill’s condition was so severe that they had a car on standby to take him to the emergency room.

Frontman Caleb Followill told NME: “He’s doing OK. It’s a real bad kidney infection that he’s had for the past week….he’s been in real pain. But the minute he walked on stage, he felt a lot better. The adrenaline of the show got him through it. Our guitar tech has been on stand-by in case Nathan’s too ill to finish the tour. Hopefully Nathan will be well enough to finish these British dates.”

The TRIPWIRE wishes Followill a speedy recovery. Don’t forget their new album, Aha Shake Heartbreak, will be getting its domestic release on February 22.
