More Details Surface On QOTSA Album

It is hard to deny that there is a ton of excitement surrounding the new Queens of the Stone Age album…the line-up, the controversy, the music. What is going to happen? In an exclusive interview with NME, front man Josh Homme spoke about what fans can expect.

“The first thing we did was to go out to the Joshua Tree and move our own kit,” Homme said commenting on how the new album, Lullabies To Paralyze (The band took the title from a lyric in “Mosquito Song”, the bonus track on previous album Songs For The Deaf), took a similar approach to his ongoing Desert Sessions project. “We decided it was time we lugged our own amplifiers. But the Queens Of The Stone Age has always been a more focused version of the Desert Sessions anyway. I feel like all through the years we’ve been learning to be Queens Of The Stone Age, and now we’ve finally got there. This is the distillation of everything we’ve been doing. I’d say that every song sounds like it’s underneath a lamppost, at nighttime. I guess it’s dark and romantic.”

The lineup was revealed as well, as NME reports that Homme’s girlfriend and Distillers frontwoman Brody Dalle and Garbage singer Shirley Manson both turn up on a track called “Man, You’ve Got Quite A Scene Going There”. Homme expressed, “The rule was actually to have no collaborators, so I guessed I fucked up. But we decided we needed some bitches.”

Lullabies To Paralyze is set to be released on March 22 via Interscope. For more information be sure and check out Queens of the Stone Age’s website.
